Mole Removal

Mole Reduction and Removal in Leeds at our Yorkshire Clinic

Lots of people have moles and most people don’t give much thought to them. They’re rarely large enough or prominent enough to seem unsightly, although it’s easy to become self-conscious if they’re on your face or anywhere else where they’re really visible.

If prominent moles are causing you embarrassment – or you’d just rather not have them – you’ll find more than just a sympathetic ear at the Advanced Electrolysis Clinic. Our cosmetic techniques draw on safe, proven Electrolysis techniques to remove or reduce moles quickly and effectively.

How and Why Moles Occur

Usually developing during the earlier years of life, moles are formed from clusters of cells known as melanocytes. They’re hardly a rarity – the majority of us have somewhere between 10 and 30 of them by the time we’re grown up, although the average size will be not much more than half a centimetre in diameter.

It’s easy to feel panicked by moles which may seem unusual in appearance or size, but considerable variation is normal. They may be raised above the skin or completely flat, light or dark in tone and with or without hairs. Typically, a clear edge marks the perimeter of the mole.

The important thing is to keep an eye out for any changes. If a mole changes colour, turns crusty in appearance, begins to grow or becomes itchy, you should make an appointment with your doctor just to be on the safe side.

Reducing and Removing Moles at Advanced Electrolysis Clinic in Leeds

The first thing to note is that the Electrolysis technique we use is that it isn’t painful – we know because our clients tell us so! Normally all they notice is a mild, warm stinging sensation which isn’t at all hard to put up with.

When you first come to see us here in Guiseley, Leeds, you’ll meet with your Electrologist to fill in a questionnaire. The next stage is for us to obtain a signed form from your doctor, which we’ll need before your treatment can begin.

On the day of your mole removal treatment, we will carefully introduce a current to the mole, using a thin needle. This results in the evaporation of the cells inside it (they’re composed of four fifths water).

Choose Treatment for the Entire Mole or Simply to Remove Hairs

The needle is also used to treat any hair follicles, so hairs are removed from the root. If you wish, we can simply remove the hairs rather than the mole itself. This would reduce the size of the mole without removing it.

Whether you choose to remove the hairs or the entire mole, the process is quick and easy. Do bear in mind that we can only remove one mole at once and return visits may be needed after around 7 weeks, in order to top up the treatment. All of this is included in the cost.

After your treatment, a scab will form which you should leave to come away on its own. This may take several weeks.

Aiming for Highly Effective Results from Mole Reduction

Most people will find that moles treated using our Electrolysis technique will be reduced in size and appear flatter against the skin. There will be no scarring from stitches, as there’s no need for us to use any. Instead you should see nothing more than a faint mark in place of the mole.

We can’t, however, guarantee perfect results and some hyper-pigmentation may remain.
